(ANTONIO SAN CRISTOBAL and the historiography of Peruvian colonial architecture)

Unlike the first generation of colonial architecture historians, Antonio San Cristóbal was interested – beyond religious architecture – also in housing and civil works in general, as well as in their authors, the master builders. His discovery of unpublished documentary sources contributed to the philological, heuristic and hermeneutical renewal of the historiography of Peruvian viceroyalty architecture.
The conference seeks to dimension, describe and evaluate the contribution of Antonio San Cristóbal to the knowledge and understanding of architecture and the conservation of the Peruvian monumental heritage.
